I had the opportunity to live in Taiwan and work at the Giant Group headquarters for 6 years. During this time, I led our efforts in design and was lucky to have a passionate team surrounding me. Working at this location has given me a much needed perspective on strategy, leadership, development and manufacturing from the center of the company. Navigating through these topics on a daily basis has strengthened my bond with coworkers and ultimately my view of how a business is run. With Taiwan constantly evolving in terms of technology and livability, this international experience was wonderful from all aspects.
Do you feel that you have too few or too many challenges at work, have hit a bottleneck in your career, or need to re-balance your work-life with the changes in your family life, and would like to change your environment? In addition to opening up the job hunting platform, do not forget that Giant Group is a global company. Each country, each SBU, and each supervisor has her/his own style, so let's talk to HR! I've been with Giant Group for a decade now, and being chosen as a model employee truly moved me. Working here has been the best decision of my life. The company offers many benefits I've been able to save a significant amount of money, which I send back to my hometown. The transformation there has been from barely having enough to eat, to my family now lives comfortably.
Giant Group is generous, especially during festivals. On Labor Day, we receive new clothes. During the Dragon Boat Festival, we get white rice and rice dumplings, and for the Winter Solstice, they distribute fruits. But my favorite tradition is the barbecue during Chinese New Year—it’s the highlight of my year. The day after the barbecue, we played a football match, with teams split between the Vietnamese and Thai workers. Even though we’re far from home, we all live and celebrate together, sharing these moments as a family. After the match, we use our bonuses to buy ingredients, cook traditional dishes in the dorm, and relish the best day of the year together.
I'm grateful to Giant Group for all the care and support they've given me. When I visited my hometown a couple of years ago, I shared with others the strengths, opportunities, and care this company offers. It’s rewarding to know that, thanks to my experience, many others from my community know this is a chance to help them improve their family’s lives, just as I did.
Giant Group chose the model worker recognition every year, and I’m thrilled to have had the chance to be named one of the model employees. It’s such a great encouragement for me.
I’m approaching my 12th year at Giant Group, and it truly feels like my second home. There are so many benefits for us to enjoy—our dorms are equipped with air conditioning, gas stoves, and electric scooters. There's even a football field where we can play anytime. Nearby, there's farmland where we grow vegetables, including many from back home, which we cook ourselves. Living here often feels just like being back in Thailand.
Our team leader is also great, treating everyone equally, regardless of where we come from. There’s 24-hour translation support, and if we fall sick, they make sure to take us to a clinic right away.
After a year of working here, all employees are eligible for 20% off on purchasing bicycles. I love cycling and enjoy participating in the cycling events organized by the company. Every time we join one of these events, we earn points, which can later be redeemed for discounts on new bicycles. This is such a valuable benefit for me.
When the Thai New Year(Songkran) comes around, Giant Group holds special activities, inviting Thai monks to the dorms for prayers and blessings, allowing us to experience the festive atmosphere of home. I genuinely love working and living here.
I come from a poor, remote part of Vietnam. When I first arrived in Taiwan, everything felt unfamiliar, and I couldn’t shake the fear inside me. But working at Giant Group, the kindness and sincerity of everyone here made me feel like I had found a second home.
I’m a quiet, hardworking person, and I never expected my efforts to be noticed. But in 2024, my supervisor nominated me for the Taichung Model Worker award—and I won the award! Standing on that stage, all I wanted to do was shout to my family, "Mom, Dad, my wife—I made it! I am a model employee here from Vietnam!"
When I went home on vacation that year, my wife and I hugged and cried, reflecting on the seven long years apart. Despite the distance, I’ve always been able to return home for life’s big moments—building our house, helping our daughter get medical treatment, and saving for retirement. Together, we’ve accomplished goals I never thought possible.
Giant Group has been more than just a workplace—it’s a place that cares about us. The company’s annual trips have helped me explore Taiwan and share those experiences with my wife. Events like the Mid-Autumn Festival barbecue help ease my homesickness, making me feel like I’m back home in Vietnam, surrounded by family.
I learned the value of contentment after joining Giant Group. I’m from Vietnam and have been working here for 8 years. If you ask me how long I want to stay, I’d say as long as possible. I even hope that when my son turns 20, we can work here together. The benefits are excellent, and this job has given my family a stable life.
Sometimes, when work slows down, some people choose to end their contracts early in search of more money, but many of them face unfortunate outcomes—losing family, health, or even their lives. I’ve always preferred a steady approach, focusing on what I have now. I believe if I work hard, I’ll keep what’s mine, so I stay confident in my decision to remain here.
Over the years, I’ve grown a lot. From weekly meetings with supervisors, I learned how to work with others and fulfill my responsibilities. The company has taught me how to care for myself and live well in a foreign country. I’ve gained an appreciation for the environment through community activities and learned gratitude through the gifts and support the company provides during holidays. Events like company trips and barbecues have taught me the importance of looking out for others.
When I first started, all I thought about was how much I could send home each month. I never expected to receive so many benefits along the way. While no place is perfect, compared to many of my friends working elsewhere, I feel truly lucky and happy. Now, I’ve built a nice home, my children have completed their education, and my wife’s medical needs are taken care of. In a few years, when my children are settled, I’ll return home to enjoy life with my wife. A heart filled with gratitude and contentment brings happiness, and I’m thankful for my time at Giant Group. I want everyone to know how good this company is and how happy I am working here.
I’ve been with Giant Group for 22 years, and I plan to stay until I retire. It's funny to think that when I first joined, I didn’t even know how to ride a bike! Over time, I’ve worked my way up and now manage a team of 50 workers.
I’m grateful that I stuck with it, even though there were moments when I felt confused or overwhelmed. I remember panicking after my first promotion because it meant taking on more responsibility!
Leading a team has pushed me to reflect on myself—my mistakes, my need for growth, and everything in between. Even today, I make it a point to be introspective, as that’s what it takes to be a good leader.
To those just joining this family, I’d say: "It takes time, but your time will come. As long as you stay determined, Giant Group will give you the opportunities, knowledge, and skills you need to succeed and achieve your goals."
“I will never leave, not until the company wants me to go.” This perfectly captures my love for my job and the company.
I’ve been with Giant Group since we started Giant Group Europe Manufacturing in the Netherlands. I began in quality management, then transitioned to working as an e-bike engineer, and now provide management support. I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty, whether it’s organizing our anniversary celebration or handling the more routine tasks like emergency preparedness, safety management, and de-stocking projects.
Having been with the company for so long, I’m ready to pursue a new goal. I’ve been thinking about encouraging more of my co-workers to join our weekly cycling. I’d love to see more of them cycling to work and during their free time, as I believe it would help them become more composed, confident, and courageous.
