Giant Group today released its 2025 ESG Report. Amid global net-zero and nature-related challenges, the Group continued to strengthen sustainability governance—expanding its greenhouse gas inventory to cover operations representing 100% of revenue, developing an independently managed product carbon footprint platform whose calculation methodology received third-party validation, and becoming a TNFD Adopter. Together, these milestones mark a meaningful shift from building management systems to delivering measurable results.
Guided by its sustainability strategy, “Cycling for a Better Future,” Giant Group continues to embed climate action, circularity, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) throughout its operations and value chain. The report follows internationally recognized frameworks including GRI, TCFD, and SASB, and supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Innovating a Clean Future: Turning Carbon Goals into Measurable Progress
In 2025, Giant Group’s GHG inventory covered 9 manufacturing sites and 15 sales companies worldwide, representing 100% of Group revenue. Scope 1 and 2 emissions at the Group’s Taiwan and China sites fell by an absolute 40.03% from the base year, the highest reduction recorded to date. The Group also plans to develop its next-stage decarbonization pathway in line with Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) methodologies.
Process optimization, equipment replacement, lighting upgrades, solar deployment, and behavioral management reduced annual emissions by 4,571.51 tCO₂e. Renewable electricity accounted for 19.6% of total electricity consumption, achieving the 2030 target ahead of schedule. The hazardous-waste recycling rate increased from 84% in 2022 to 98%, while recycled water and harvested rainwater totaled 319 million liters. Biodiversity-risk screening covered 100% of owned factories and supplier locations, establishing the Group’s first baseline and supporting its commitment as a TNFD Adopter.
Transforming for Circularity: Building an Ecosystem from Materials to Services
Reliable data is fundamental to circular transformation. Giant Group’s Taiwan operations developed a product carbon footprint platform aligned with ISO 14067. Its calculation methodology received third-party validation, giving the Group a consistent and credible basis for managing product life-cycle emissions and informing circularity decisions.
During the year, the Group used 2,240 metric tons of recycled aluminum alloy, introduced recycled ocean-bound materials into 47 tire products, and produced more than 1.37 million saddles incorporating recycled materials. Circular value also extended into product use: Giant Taiwan sold 1,666 certified pre-owned bicycles, generating NT$20.34 million in revenue, while service and repair revenue grew 11.64% from 2021.
Shared mobility further broadened this impact. YouBike’s Carbon Savings Passbook recorded cumulative avoided emissions of 37,985 tCO₂e—equivalent to the annual carbon sequestration of 98 Daan Forest Parks—demonstrating circular value across products, services, and mobility experiences.
Mobilizing for DEI: Advancing Talent, Safety, and Communities
Women’s representation in STEM roles increased to 38.68%, up 4.4 percentage points year on year. The internal-fill rate reached 76.8%, with more than seven in ten openings filled through internal promotion or transfer—evidence that the Group’s talent development and retention mechanisms are taking hold.
ISO 45001 certification covered 66.7% of manufacturing sites, with six plants certified. All 79 planned safety improvements were completed, reinforcing workplace safety through a continuous PDCA approach. Beyond its operations, the Giant and Liv Grassroots Program continued developing emerging cycling talent for a fourth consecutive year, including training in Spain with a UCI professional team. Following flooding in Guangfu Township, Hualien, YouBike deployed 150 bicycles and rental stations to help restore everyday mobility and support community recovery.
“When carbon reduction, circularity, and talent development are embedded in business decisions, sustainability becomes more than an aspiration—it becomes a foundation for corporate resilience,” said Phoebe Liu, CEO of Giant Group. “We believe every ride carries the values of health, happiness, and environmental responsibility. Through the power of cycling, we look forward to working with more people to create a better way of life.”
Looking ahead, Giant Group will continue integrating ESG practices more deeply across its operations and value chain. Guided by measurable and verifiable outcomes, the Group aims to accelerate the bicycle industry’s transformation and create lasting positive impact for the planet.
