Giant Group is honored to receive the 2024 Trailblazer Award from World Bicycle Relief (WBR), recognizing a 15-year partnership dedicated to designing and manufacturing durable bicycles for underserved communities, such as in South Africa. For over a decade, Giant Group has supported WBR in creating Buffalo Bicycles—affordable, robust bicycles specifically engineered for the challenging terrain of rural areas. This collaboration has empowered students, healthcare workers, and entrepreneurs by improving access to essential services and economic opportunities.
The award will be presented to Giant Group at WBR’s “Communities on the Move” benefit by Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox (Sterne Kessler) on November 14th in Chicago. Phoebe Liu, Giant Group’s Chief Branding and Marketing Officer, accepted the award on behalf of the company. “We’re deeply honored to receive the Trailblazer Award from World Bicycle Relief,” said Liu. “This partnership reflects our shared belief that bicycles can be powerful agents of change, and we look forward to continuing this important work.”
World Bicycle Relief’s co-founder, FK Day, who will present the award, noted Giant Group’s impact on WBR’s mission: “Their design and manufacturing expertise has allowed us to scale our programs, providing quality, durable bicycles to communities where access to transportation often marks the difference between opportunity and hardship.”
Beyond manufacturing, Giant Group supports WBR’s efforts through the annual “Ride Like King” cycling event, an initiative held in honor of Giant Group’s founder, King Liu. This global event unites cyclists worldwide to ride for good, providing Buffalo Bicycles to needy communities. The “Ride Like King” event has provided thousands of bicycles to underserved regions, reinforcing Giant Group’s long-term investment in social change.
As the 2024 Trailblazer Award recipient, Giant Group will continue to champion responsible manufacturing and social change, using the power of bicycles to improve lives and strengthen communities around the globe.
