The 34th Taiwan Excellence Awards, including the Gold and Silver Awards, held an award ceremony today (11/26). Giant Group's high-end bicycle brand, Giant, won the Taiwan Excellence Award and the Silver Award for its PRE rCARBON balance bike.
The Taiwan Excellence Awards represent the highest honor for Taiwan's industries. This year, nearly 1,000 innovative products were submitted, with 336 selected for the Excellence Award and 30 products competing for the Gold and Silver Quality Awards. After a rigorous evaluation by domestic and international experts across five major aspects—R&D, design, quality, marketing, and Taiwan manufacturing —Giant brand's PRE rCARBON balance bike stood out and received the Silver Award, showcasing the Group’s outstanding capabilities in R&D, design, and sustainable innovation.
The PRE rCARBON is the world’s first balance bike made from recycled carbon fiber and eco-friendly materials. It marks a milestone in Giant Group’s use of recycled materials and reflects its commitment to a more sustainable future—starting with children’s bikes and gradually expanding sustainable practices across its broader product line.

1. Proprietary Recycled Carbon Fiber Technology
The frame, fork, and handlebar/stem unit of the PRE rCARBON are crafted using the Group’s proprietary recycled carbon fiber technology, delivering high strength, comfort, and impact resistance. Additional components—such as the tires, grips, and saddle—are also made from eco-friendly materials, including recycled nylon sourced from discarded ocean fishing nets. Compared to virgin materials of the same weight, the PRE rCARBON reduces CO₂ emissions by 50%, demonstrating the Group’s concrete commitment to environmental sustainability.
2. Integrated Design and Manufacturing Excellence
The bike is crafted using a one-piece molding design and Giant’s proprietary Composite process, resulting in a sleek appearance and robust structure. The integrated handlebar and stem, along with the one-piece seatpost and saddle, offer a minimalist yet durable design. Weighing only 2.5 kg, the bike features professional-grade 12-inch tri-spoke carbon wheels, delivering a lightweight build that meets the highest safety and structural standards for children’s products—ensuring a smooth and secure riding experience.
3. Ergonomically Designed for Young Riders
Every detail is tailored to children’s body proportions and riding needs. Soft grips on smaller-diameter handlebars and a non-slip, cushioned saddle enhance comfort and control, allowing kids to ride longer with ease. With 90% of the bike pre-assembled out of the box, it’s easy to set up and ready for young riders to begin their journey of exploration right away.
